With summer slipping away and busy work schedules, my house projects have been taking longer to complete as I try to enjoy whatever outdoor activities I can fit in in my free time. My mudroom is slowly but surely coming along so I figured I would at least post about the progress we have made so far on it.
We carved this space out of our garage because it is 5 stalls so we could spare a few square feet. We put up the walls and moved the security door so the new entrance into the house is right into the mudroom.
We added crown moulding and painted it white which I love. We got it from Builder’s Material Outlet for really cheap which makes it even better! It was my first time going there and as long as you take the time to dig through stacks of moulding and find a grouping that is all the same style bound together, it is worth it. We ended up having to buy a little more material than we really needed because it was included in the “group” but it was still cheaper than getting it from another store.
The floors are vinyl plank from Menards. I really like the gray look and it will be really easy to wipe up dirt that gets dragged in. It was more difficult/time consuming than I thought it would be to install because the pieces that interlocked together were pretty fragile and we broke a few because it was difficult to get the planks locked together without a gap between them. There is probably a “trick” out there to do this better but we still made it work.
The time consumer in the room is the wall of lockers. They are all built and primed but need an extra coat of paint, some polyurethane, drawers under the bench, and maybe some cabinet doors for the top. I am holding off on that decision but I’m pretty sure I’ll want doors on the top.
Once everything else is finished, I’ll post some final pictures of it!
